Male Nude

An oilpainting based on a drawing of the artist  Juan Adan Morlan.

The painting here is based on a drawing by Pierre-Paul Prud'hon.

The next painting is based on a drawing by the american painter Paul Cadmus.  Measures 50 cm x 60 cm.

PIXELPAINTING

This is a painting I finished in Oktober 2014.  I call it PixelPainting. At the same time it is a study into the effect of the underpainting.  All 72 squars have a different underpainting color in tempera. The toplayer is handmade oil-paint.  4 Squares have a goldleave topping.   The painting is 55 cm x 65 cm.  I was inspired to this painting by the German painter Gerhard Richter. Particulary by his window in the Kölner Dom.

Other part of the inspiration is the simple fact that nowadays images on a computer are created from pixels.

Flower Painting

The flower paintings I did in 2013. Early 2013 I visited  the Gartencenter Münsterland in Handorf near Münster in Germany. A lot of Orchids could be seen there. There is the picture made for the painting on top. The second painting is based on a image on Internet.  The third painting  is based on a foto I took in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam.  At the same visit to Amsterdam I visited the Hortus Botanicus of the VU University  Amsterdam where in a dark corner near the water  I took the picture of the Narcissus. As far as I heard this Hortus Botanicus doesn't excist any more.

All four paintings are made on a wooden panel with handmade oilcolours. Measures are 30 cm x 40 cm of each.

Kevin getting out of the pool.

I have always been an admirer of David Hockney. His pool images are famous. Recently I was glad to visit the exhibition "Dass Nackte Leben."    in the LWL in Münster, Germany.  A couple of paintings of David Hockney could be seen there.
His painting  Peter Getting Out of Nick's Pool, 1966 which was not seen in the exhibition,  stayed in my head.  Recently I found an interesting image on the web which shows the same theme but in a different setting.   I wanted to paint this..  and the above painting is the result.  I called the man Kevin because he needed a name.

It is painted on linen with a dark color base made of tempera. All paints are handmade. The paintings together measure 57 cm  by 107 cm.
