DUTCH STRAWBERRIES

This is a special painting. For this painting I made a color that to my knowledge has not been previously used yet. The basis for this is titanium ... Because I make my oil paints myself, I better get to know the properties of the pigments. Through this experience I could make this color ...

It were the first strawberries this year that I saw in the supermarket. From Holland and they looked very tasty .... I hope this taste can be found on the canvas ..

It measures  23.6 x 27.6 inch (60 x 70 cm). It is painted on self grounded belgium Linnen and all oil paints are handmade.

OH MY GOSH

This painting is intentionally created for my toilet. It is Toilet-Art.  It is just for fun and to tease the people who use it...  I had this idea already a long time and in the  toilet of the Alexianer Cafe called "Waschsalon" (next to the cafe is realy a laundry) in Münster near the station it was used also in the mens toilet.

The way I painted this is new to me..  I call it  Minimal-Painting. It gives a rich tonality to the painting. All oil-paints are handmade and it is painted on self-grounded belgium linnen. In this painting I used a colour which I think is not used anywhere else.
The measures are 22.44 x 26.38 inches (57 x 67 cm)

OLDER WORK 2

I have always been a great admire of Degas. I liked his style.  As an hommage to him I made this drawing.  It is done with colourpencil on paper I got from the factory where I was working in those days.  As far as I remember the paper had a grey colour.

The drawing of the girl which I used as basis for this drawing is probably the next image.  I found it on Wikiart.org.   It is made around 1866.

Recently on an Antique Market in Münster (Germany) I saw this statue standing in the corner of a shop. It was announced as Degas but actually it is not the same as the Dancer a bronze made by Degas. But the attitude and bodylanguage is the same.  I liked it.

OLDER WORK 1

I still have some work in my Studio which has no picture of it taken...The sun came out and I shot some pictures of them.
Here is een Etch I did while I was living in Utrecht (The Netherlands).  I could do this work in an big Workshop some where in the Pieterskerkhof.  I don't know if it still exists.  I used an aluminium plate for this work.  It is called drypoint  technique.  Why I choose those two men I don't remember.. The measure of the etch is  11.8 x 15.75 inch   (30 x 40 cm)

Also I liked to do woodprints with a spoon.  Very simple and it could be done without big printmachines....  In those days in Utrecht I liked to visit music events and made drawings of the players...  This way this serie of three is made...  The prints are each  2.95 x 13.58 inch (7,5 x 34,5 cm)

THE MAN WHO WOULDN'T LAUGH.

I like to do a portrait. For studies I often look in the internet for a suitable figur.  So I found this man standing against a wall.  I like his attitude. I don't know who he is or who took the image. It is painted which is made with only three colours and, naturally, white.

The painting is made with handmade oil paint on a wooden panel.  The measures are 11.8 x 15.75 inch  ( 30 x 40 cm).

SELF PORTRAIT.

This is a study. I took an wooden panel which I prepaired in 2013 and started this self portrait.
The small image looks a little to red-ish. When you click on it, it looks better.
A grumpy guy I would think.... :)

The painting is made with handmade oilpaints on a wooden panel which measures 11.8 x 15.75 inch (30 x 40 cm).

WINTER IN RUTBEEK.

Near where I live is an artifical lake. The sand was meanly used for traffic construction. Nowadays it is a big recreation spot for the community of Enschede.    A couple of days ago I went there biking and shot the image of the lake just covered with a tin layer of ice.  This I turned into a painting.  It is all handmade oilpaint on linen and the measures are 23.6 x 27.6 inch (60 x 70 cm).

PRINSES CHRISTINA CONCOURS

This Concours has different for-selections. My nephew joint it in Enschede where the for-selections for Prinses Christina Concours East 2016 would be held. He was the only one who played the Accordion. It was a presentation on stage before public of only 10 minutes which ment that mostly 3 pieces of musik where played. He played classical musik and the last piece was quite extraordinary.

Later in the evening, already at home, he got an email that he was invited to join and play in the final contest which would be held the next day also in Enschede. And also here he was choosen one of the winners. Quite nice.

During his first performance I had taken some pictures and I worked out one as a study.  It is made with handmade oilpaint on a wooden panel measuring 30 x 40 cm.

DRAMA ABOVE ENSCHEDE.

It was a couple of years ago that I layed my eye on a awfully dramatic sunset. I was standing in the kitchen and looking out the window towards a high building in the far distant. The colour beauty was immens. Complementary colours in the core of the clouds.  I was fascinated. I immediately took my camera and shot a couple of images...

Finaly I have put it into oil with handmade oilpaints (except for the kremser white) on linen. The measures are 70 x 60 cm.

BERLIN STATUE.

About a year ago I was in  Berlin on the Museum island in the Alte Nationalgalerie.
There I made this picture of a marble statue. The name of it is  "Standing young man" by Adolf von Hildebrand.

The natural pose struck me. Without pretension just standing to become immortalised.
I used an aluminium plate to paint its head. The oilpaint is handmade and its measures are 18 x 24 inch (46 x 61 cm)
