Structure of the painting. The linen cloth I primed with my own recipe. Then added a colored base coat tempera ... On which I could start the underpainting.
All paint is handmade. It takes time to do
this and it slowed the work. At the same
time it has its own rules into the way how
one is working. I would say it
is not as smooth as modern paints will allow. A major difference is that the homemade paint
for each color has its own creamy composition or roughness .... Or whatever one will call this. While all modern paints are mostly an identical
substance with identical creaminess ...
Another thing is that I stayed out of the deepest dark for
as long as possible.. this way I can
always go darker if the painting asks for it….
The painting is 55cm x 65 cm.
